Research Associate - Cell-Free R&D

This candidate will assist in planning and carrying out cell free protein synthesis experiments geared towards both advancement of the cell free platform and in collaboration with industrial partners. He/She will be a part of a team that is working on multiple projects [platform development and industrial collaborations], so attention to time management and prioritization is important. This candidate will be trained [by FAB inc.] in the use of state-of-the-art protein synthesis technology, will report to a scientist/senior scientist, and will be an integral part of the discovery process.

The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill sets:

*  Bachelors, or Masters, in a technical field, such as chemical engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, biology, or other related disciplines.

*  Experience (1-2 years) in a wet lab [industrial or academic] and familiar with common chemistry/ biology/ biotechnology laboratory equipment and practices.

*  Must be self-motivated to learn about the biotechnology industry and related fields, so as to rapidly enhance his/her skill sets and to grow with the company.

*  Must be eligible to work in the US for any employer.

Scientist/ Senior Scientist - Molecular Biology

This candidate will design and carry out an experimental program to research and develop E. coli strains suitable for various cell-free research projects. Work will include chromosomal gene integration/deletion, DNA vector construction/ manipulation/ incorporation, and active participation in FAB’s scientific development, while becoming a member of FAB’s core technical team. As a result, this candidate will be expected to work independently, as well as on a team, and contribute original ideas on a daily, and ongoing, basis. This candidate will be expected to manage and advise scientific team members.

The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill sets:

*  PhD/ Postdoctoral experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline.

*  Extensive experience (3-5+ years) in E. coli genetics/strain development and molecular biology (industrial and or academic).

*  Ability to work independently and contribute original thoughts leading to novel IP/patents and/or publications.

*  Must be eligible to work in the US for any employer.

Scientist/ Senior Scientist - Protein Purification

This candidate will develop scaleable purification strategies [bench-top to pilot plant] for various research and development projects and work on purification of various proteins from E. coli and FAB’s cell-free platform. Candidate is expected to work in a research lab as well as pilot plant environment. This candidate will be an active participation in FAB’s scientific development, while becoming a member of FAB’s core technical team. As a result, this candidate will be expected to work independently, as well as in a team, and contribute original ideas on a daily, and ongoing, basis. This candidate will be expected to manage and advise scientific team members.

The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill sets:

*  PhD (preferred)/ MS (with highly relevant experience) in biotechnology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related discipline.

*  Extensive industrial experience (5+ years) in protein purification, purification systems, and purification strategies.

*  Experience in industrial downstream process development is essential.

*  Knowledge of current GLP and GMP is a plus.

*  Ability to work independently and contribute original thoughts leading to novel IP/patents and/or publications.

*  Ability to manage/advise scientific team members.

*  Must be self-motivated to learn about the biotechnology industry and related fields, so as to rapidly enhance his/her skill sets and to grow with the company.

Scientist/ Senior Scientist - Analytical Chemistry

The candidate will design and develop analytical protocol and procedures to investigate the chemical and protein behavior and composition of an E. coli based cell-free system. The candidate will be expected to rapidly learn the FAB's cell-free technology, and have the ability and desire to rapidly develop and deploy essential analytical methods for upstream, inline, and downstream characterization of cell-free components. This candidate must be highly skilled in utilizing various analytical equipment including HPLC, CEMS, FPLC, UV-Vis, Chip Analysis – Agilent Bioanalyzer, LC-MS, etc. The ability to problem-solve and trouble shoot complex instrumentation is essential. The candidate must be capable of determining appropriate and necessary instrumentation, purchasing equipment, and rapidly enabling and deploying these technologies. This person must be comfortable working both individually and as an essential member of a research team. They must be able to think independently and creatively to generate novel solutions and characterization diagnostic methods. This candidate will be expected to rapidly grow within the company and may be required to supervise other scientific staff.

The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill sets:

*  PhD or MS in a highly technical field, such as chemical engineering, biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or related discipline.

*  Extensive industrial and/or academic R&D experience (3-5+ years) dealing with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, LC-MS, FPLC, CEMS, etc.

*  Extensive experience in developing and creating analytical protocols for identification and characterization of proteins and small molecules.

*  Ability to generate novel and creative solutions leading to IP/patents and/or publications.

*  Must be eligible to work in the US for any employer.

*  Extensive hands-on experience in all aspects of unnatural amino acids incorporation research field.

*  Ability to work independently and on a team.
